Via Daily Mail:

Theodore Teddy Forstmann, the savvy billionaire head of sports and modeling talent agency IMG and other businesses, who was romantically linked to Padma Lakshmi has died of brain cancer at 71.

Mr. Forstmann bought, sold and turned around dozens of companies including Gulfstream Aerospace, Dr Pepper and General Instrument.

Although the billionaire financier and philanthropist never married, he had been dating the Top Chef host and model over the last several years.

Their relationship made headlines when Ms Lakshmi, 41, gave birth to now one-year-old daughter Krishna in February 2010, leading to speculation over who the father was.

He was later revealed to be Venture capitalist Adam Dell, the brother of Dell computer firm founder Michael Dell.

Unusually for a financier, Mr. Forstmann was also a regular in the gossip pages and he was often photographed arm-in-arm with models and actresses, including Elizabeth Hurley.

He also had a brief romantic relationship with Diana, Princess of Wales, which he said later turned into a long-term friendship.

According to The Diana Chronicles by Newsweek and The Daily Beast editor Tina Brown, however, the two were plotting to wed in the last weeks of her life.

Ms Lakshmi is also known for having a propensity for dating powerful men.
She was married to prize winning author Sir Salman Rushdie for three years before being linked to nightlife impresario Nur Khan and actor David Spade.

Padma's relationship with Dell ended in in 2009, with Dell, 40, claiming the former model launched a cruel attack on him during a phone call calling him an 'unambitious' man with an 'uninteresting' career and 'unmemorable' friends.

She also told Dell that she desperately hoped her other lover, Forstmann, would prove to be Krishna's biological parent, according to court papers.

He claims this was the reason she refused to put his name on the birth certificate - 'to minimize, if not eliminate [Dell's] role in Krishna's life and to install Forstmann as Krishna's father.'

A Forstmann spokesperson declined to comment at the time, but a source close to him said: 'He has been carrying out the role of father since the moment Krishna was delivered into his arms.'

Side Note: It is always trife when there is a question of who the father of your child is. Messy!
