Sp. Edition: AMC & OLTL R.I.P For Good!? If So, The Much Requested Reunion of OLTL's "JoVan" Will Never Happen + [JoVan - History Of A Super Couple]

No more "All My Children" or "One Life To Live"??

I don't watch "AMC", but used to watch "OLTL" a few yrs ago.. but it's hella cray how these shows have been treated. Anywho... Deets below:

Via Soap Confidential:

Deadline's Nellie Andreeva is reporting Prospect Park is on the verge of scrapping plans to bring cancelled ABC Daytime soaps All My Children and One Life to Live to the web via The Online Network. According to Andreeva's sources, Prospect Park's inability to reach pacts with WGA and AFTRA could cause the production company's principles Rick Frank and Jeff Kwatinetz to shutter to project as early as today.

The article goes on to say negotiations proved difficult because there is no collective bargaining precedent for transitioning a broadcast series to the web, and that Prospect Park is "exhausting every possible avenue" before pulling the plug. Funny, I heard they had been cancelling meetings with the WGA and AFTRA left and right.

Maybe if Prospect Park had been spending more time figuring out the logisitcs of their ambitious efforts, or how to streamline production costs, as opposed to continually trying to throw Susan Lucci under the bus, things could have been different? As it is though, I do commend them for even trying, and hope they can pull it out. Happy Thanksgiving, soap fans.

Side Note: Perhaps they will work it out. If not, both soaps had a long run. And.. Michael Easton can join General Hospital! :D

No possible reunion of "JoVan"??

Fans of the soap "One Life To Live" will never forget one of the hottest hookups ever in Daytime history.

The super couple "John McBain" and "Evangeline Williamson" (known as "JoVan") played by Michael Easton and Renee Elise Goldsberry were explosive on screen. Their chemistry was crazy off the charts. Before you get into the history of "Jovan":

It was obvious that some serious "attraction" was going on! "JoVan" were a couple for almost a year during 2004-2005.

When contract negotiations fell through with REG, she chose not to renew her contract with the show after 4 years.

Even though at the time the on-screen couple "JoVan" had broken up and "Evangeline" had just ended a relationship with "Christian" played by hotness David Fumero (known as "Crave") and seemed to be moving toward a relationship with friend and bad boy "Todd Manning", played by the sexy cool Trevor St. John. (Also an amazing hookup.. known as "Tangeline or Tangie"... "Jovan" fans were still pushing for a reunion of the couple that rocked daytime.. Literally. They were too hot for ABC!

Eventually they (the writers) put the "Evangeline" character in a coma, and then years later announced she had died.

Anywho.. take a little look back at what will go down in soap history as one of the hottest couples ever to grace the small screen.

"OLTL" soap fans know what I'm talkin bout!

[Now to get a better understanding of what the hoopla is about.. from time to time.. read the comments for the Youtube videos... quite entertaining] --- Watch sexy azz Michael Easton closely in the vids... He is a trip!

Pt. 1

Pt. 2

Almost a year later.. Post breakup.. at this point John is back with "Natalie", and "Evangeline" is close with Christian but helping "Todd" who has been accused of murder. As his attorney and friend.. "Evangeline" gets arrested for helping "Todd" hide from authorities. - The point of these clips is to show.. even though they were no longer together, the character "John" showed how much he still cared for "Evangeline" even in front of a jealous "Natalie". He even tried to warn her when police were on their way to where they thought "Todd" was hiding. The characters definitely had "unfinished" business.

March 2006

The writers changed at "OLTL" and the new writers refused to allow Michael's character "John" to say the three important words to Evangeline. So they broke the characters up because it made Evangeline's character look like she was settling for less. Yet even though "John" never said the words, he showed his feelings over and over again. I mean really.. His Mother's pearls!!! HELLO! That was love.

To this day there are still websites, fanfics, tribute vids etc for Jovan fans.

"OLTL" has tried to hook "John" up with everyone on the show.. No sparks. He doesn't even look the same.. he looks bored. Now as updates show.. they have reunited him with the immature and trife "Natalie" and she has had his baby, even though she didn't know who the father was initially. [Barf]

They have zero chemistry. LOL

Even though it has been over six years since Michael Easton and Renee Elise Goldsberry lit up the screen, and Michael Easton stated in an interview that he and "Evangeline" had unfinished business. JoVan fans were keeping hope alive.
