Julianne Hough Lands the Fourth Judge Seat on DWTS...Fans Want Maksim Chermokoskiy Instead

 photo 67ec630b-09e1-4ede-9886-48e6241d77da_zps45fe573a.jpg

Former 'Dancing With the Stars' pro, Julianne Hough, will be returning to the hit show, but in a new career move.

Derek Hough's sister will be the fourth judge on the upcoming season. After ABC made the official announcement, the overall reception wasn't entirely positive. Fans of the show took to social media to let it be known they much preferred former pro, Maksim Chmerkoviskiy, as the new judge.

There simply wasn't that much enthusiasm from folks welcoming Julianne Hough after the announcement. While there was some warm reception from a few folks, Maksim's massive supporters drowned them out.

In an embarrassing move via the official 'Dancing With the Stars' twitter page, another tweet was sent out after the initial announcement about Julianne's new gig...well, flooded the timeline with outrage over the fact that Julianne was hired and Maksim wasn't.

Somebody should be begging Maksim to return to the show at this point. They're cutting out a core part of their audience...potentially millions of viewers.

At this point, Julianne, might want to graciously step aside and continue trying to snag a rich man or perhaps attempt to become at least a C-list movie star.

Whatever the case...hopefully her JUDGMENT skills have improved since her OFFENSIVE decision to go in full BLACK FACE last Halloween. That ish wasn't even funny. (See above photo) What will she do this Halloween to shock folks? Dress as the character, Catherine, from FLOWERS IN THE ATTIC? That character was a dancer as well and she also had a close brother.

Happy Birthday to the Master of Suspense, Alfred Hitchcock 1899-1980

 photo 5c89ff9b-4398-4a9e-8c44-a5d3c5d15fea_zpsbb40c27a.jpg

On this day, 115 years ago, Alfred Hitchcock was born. He would become one of the most legendary filmmakers in history. The iconic director's films, are a suspenseful entree of sophisticated intrigue and mystery; which takes the viewer on a magnificent cinematic experience.

Alfred Hitchcock was indeed the Master Of Suspense. His iconic films and television shows continue to be emulated and copied even to this day. The man was ahead of his time.

Even though each and every Hitchcock project was exceptional; some of my favorites include: Rear Window, Dial M For Murder, Marnie, Psycho, Strangers On A Train, Rope, To Catch A Thief, Notorious, and Vertigo.

Happy Birthday, Mr. Hitchcock.

Sad News: Michael Brown, Unarmed, Shot Multiple Times by an Officer + Michael's Parents Speak

 photo 9986fe6e-c13a-4336-a175-ec85b1b235c7_zpsdc792b2f.jpg

The devastating shooting death of Michael Brown, 18, in Ferguson, Missouri, by a police officer a few days ago, has led to an outcry from around the nation. Michael Brown was unarmed when he was gunned down.

Details have emerged that shed light on what happened that fateful day between Michael, a young man about to head to college, and a police officer who appears to have been trigger happy.

Following the killing of Mike Brown, residents and supporters from local communities led peaceful protests in the area. The media didn't seem too interested in covering this particular story. Within a day, with tempers high, hearts shattered, and no answers from officials; some folks reacted in a way that they should not have and were seen looting in the area.

Ironically, this was the moment national media decided to turn its attention to Ferguson. The focus was not on the killing of an unarmed young man, the headlines were now about rioting and unrest in the area.

I don't condone rioting, looting, or any type of violence... With that being said...I also understand the anger and hurt that is being felt and at some point...someone needs to explain why young black men are continuing to be gunned down in the street like stray dogs and the folks who are pulling the trigger are not being punished.

My heart goes out to Michael Brown's parents, and I sincerely hope they get justice for their son.

Developments that have happened over the past few days have included, police officials withholding the name of the officer that killed Micheal Brown, Tank trucks moving into the city, tear gas/pellet guns used on protesters, an officer caught on CNN video live calling peaceful protesters "animals," media getting blocked from entering the city, the FAA issuing a flight restriction over Ferguson and the organization; Anonymous released the following video.

Tragic News: Robin Williams Dead at 63, Suicide Suspected

 photo 849442d8-b84c-43ff-b8f6-6c40a1905ec0_zps6db4069b.jpg

On Monday afternoon, news broke that Oscar winning actor, Robin Williams, was dead at the age of 63.

It was a jolting hit to Hollywood. His peers took to social media, as did his fans, and offered their thoughts and condolences. The funny man, who made millions laugh, was obviously battling inner demons that he just couldn't shake. So tragic.

Robin Williams' publicist stated Williams was battling severe depression. It is suspected that Williams died from asphyxia. A toxicology test and forensic examination is scheduled for Tuesday.

May Robin Williams rest in peace. I offer prayers and condolences to his family during this difficult time.

His legacy of work will live on, inspiring others and leaving a lasting imprint on their lives.

I damn near dropped my iphone when I saw this Idris Elba photo on E Online today. I knew this fine chocolate man was packing....but, to see the evidence of what might be the actual possibilities of what he was working with just......ok, let me keep this PG.

Fast forward to Idris' response once social media blew up over his...ahhh... package?

Welp. Idris tweeted a response to calm down all the ovaries that were trembling in excitement around the world. He claims the "bulge" was nothing more than a microphone wire, (he was on set.)

The modesty is cute, tho.

Anywho...he thanked the additional followers and tweeted:

Two American Missionaries Infected with Ebola are Back in the US, Receives Experimental Serum

The deadly outbreak of Ebola in West Africa, has been the cause of over nine hundred deaths. That number surely will possibly rise since there is not a cure for the deadly disease and officials there clearly need help in containing the spread of the disease.

With that being said, two American missionaries became infected with Ebola and both were flown back into the United States to continue receiving treatment at Emory University in Atlanta.

Mapp Biopharmaceutical Inc., a small biotech company in San Diego, which is owned by tobacco company, Reynolds American Inc., developed the ZMapp drug. The company released the experimental serum called, ZMapp, to be administered to the two American missionaries.

It appears as though the serum has improved their condition and this has caused an outcry from folks wondering why the serum has not been given to the people in West Africa who are in desperate need of help in fighting the disease. Some have even used race as a reason as to why they felt the serum was not being readily given.

However, folks must understand, the drug is EXPERIMENTAL. The vaccine has not been approved or cleared by the FDA, nor has the vaccine ever been administered to humans. The two missionaries are the first.

In addition, there is not a large quantity available. With all of these issues at hand...while it may be frustrating for some, it is the reality of the situation. Folks just need to continue to pray and hope Ebola does not spread here in the United States. The CDC and health officials have assured the public that Ebola can only be transmitted via bodily fluids, person to person. It is not airborne.

Not to make light of the situation at hand...but it doesn't help to see the health officials transferring Ebola patients dressed like this (photo below) ....if its not airborne.

Again, continue to pray for Dr. Kent Brantly and Nancy Whitebol. They risked their own lives to provide care to others in need.

Book of the Month: [August 2014] - CITY OF BONES [The Mortal Instruments Series Book One] By Cassandra Clare

 photo 2dcf4ca9-6e5a-42f9-b58b-4230e3fb149e_zpsc2dca908.jpg

Cassandra Clare's young adult paranormal series, "The Mortal Instruments," arrived in the literary world a few years ago and showed out!

I've been wanting to read "The Mortal Instruments" series for the longest. Even after the initial talk of the novels being adapted into a film and the film actually releasing; my interest in reading the books only increased.

The buzz around this series has been fire, as well. Surprisingly, the film version did not do well at the box office. I haven't seen the film, but, that was only due to the fact that I wanted to read the first book; prior to watching the film. The film grossed a little over $31 million dollars domestically and $59 million internationally.

The film stats will not deter me from reading the book, because simply; the movie isn't the book. A film interpretation of someone else's work, sometimes doesn't transfer quite as well onto the big screen.

In this case, I believe the marketing of the film was lackluster and unfortunately, the ticket sales reflected that.

Summer is almost over and I wanted to make sure I read at least book one in the series before summer ended. So with that being said...the first book in the series, "City of Bones," is this month's (August 2014) book of the month pick.

Folks, as always, happy reading!

Synopsis via Amazon:
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder -- much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing -- not even a smear of blood -- to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk.

Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know...

Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare's ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.

Now while the August book of the month pick focuses on book one, "City of Bones," The Immortal Instruments series consists of six books. The additional titles include: City of Ashes, City of Glass, City of Fallen Angels, City of Lost Souls and City of Heavenly Fire.
