Congrats to Prince William and Kate Middleton! After dating for several years and even going through a very public brief break-up, they are now engaged!
Prince William popped the question to girlfriend Kate Middleton, with the blue sapphire and diamond ring that his father Charles, the Prince of Wales, gave to Diana, Princess of Wales, back in February 1981.
Princess Diana chose the ring from a selection presented to her by jewelers Garrard.
Royal officials officially announced Tuesday that Prince William would wed Middleton.
A spokesperson for Prince Charles' said the heir to the British throne is "delighted to announce the engagement of Prince William to Miss Catherine Middleton."
The palace says they got engaged last month during a vacation in Kenya. The couple both of whom are 28, are expected to marry next spring or summer in London.
