CONGRATS: Jharrel Jerome [WHEN THEY SEE US, Korey Wise] Wins Emmy [Video]

The riveting biopic, When They See Us, directed by Ava DuVernay, took home an Emmy win for the brilliant WTSU fam. Jharrel Jerome won the Emmy for outstanding lead actor in a limited series or movie for "When They See Us," during the live ceremony held September 22, 2019.

His win was for the powerful and heartbreaking performance as Korey Wise, one of the "Exonerated Five."

Jerome made history as well. He became the first Afro-Latino and the first Dominican to win this category.

When I first watched the series on Netflix, it was difficult at times to watch. The tears flowed and my heart ached for the unjust and cruelty of what happened. It's a story that stays with you.

It was wonderful to see the Exonerated Five at the ceremony.  To see the tears on Korey Wise's face, instantly had me tearing up.

Blessings to all of them.
