Chocolate Chick Special Edition: Republicans Faked Their Way Into Control of The Senate, Democrats Shot Themselves in the Foot

Mitch McConnell (R-KY) will be the next Senate Majority Leader

After the polls closed on Tuesday night and the results started coming in; by the end of the night, a few things became abundantly clear:

1) Millions of Americans failed to go to the polls 2) Republicans gained enough Senate wins to gain control of the Senate 3)Republicans will control both Houses 4) Voters were uninformed and ignorant to the facts 5) Democratic candidates that turned their back on President Obama on the campaign trail and tried to distance themselves from his administration lost their races.

Republicans were able to pick up wins from Democratic Senate seats in Colorado, Iowa, West Virginia, Arkansas, Montana, South Dakota and North Carolina. Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky was able to keep his seat in Kentucky, despite his negative approval rating.

As one could imagine, Republicans gloated and political pundits on FOX and CNN especially were giddy as hell from the night's events. However, when all the dust settled, it's hard to see the hoopla of the Republican domination of both houses of Congress. What it shows is the outright ignorance of many voters who obviously were blinded, misguided and uninformed on the actual facts.

The cloudiness in some of the voters minds who voted for these Republicans, allowed the GOP to mislead them and use fear as a weapon to vote Republican. Democratic candidates across the country also soured potential voters because the candidates chose not to team up with the President on the campaign trail. I have to say, I was surprised that Senator Kay Hagan (D-NC) didn't have President Obama campaign with her in North Carolina. She did call on Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton, I thought she was leading up to the big reveal, President Obama right before the final countdown to election day. She did finally ask the President to do radio spots that were broadcast across the state. However, she still lost the NC Senate race to Republican, Thom Tillis, who was already a complete horror for NC.

However, you know what, folks that voted for Thom Tillis, included voters who are NOT going to be a thought in Tillis' mind now that he has secured his win and they will have to live with that. They voted against their own best interests. That's crazy!

I will close this by saying, 2016 will be here before you know it and folks better wake up and understand the importance of being CORRECTLY informed about the issues and policies each candidate stands for.

Republicans were responsible for the Government shutdown and deliberately set out not to cooperate with the President, yet, despite this, President Obama was able to do his job successfully. Under his watch, he has improved the economy, saved our country from another Great Depression, The Dow is up, unemployment is down, consumer confidence is at an all-time high, he made it possible for millions of families to have access to affordable healthcare and so much more. With all that the President has accomplished, this should have been the platform that Democratic candidates proudly relayed to their base over and over again. And let's not forget...the mastermind behind the horrific 9/11 terrorist attack, Osama Bin Laden, was captured and killed.

With this accumulation of knowledge, facts and stats; Democrats shot themselves in the foot and have no one to blame but themselves for their losses. I bet candidates getting ready to run in 2016 will learn from this very valuable lesson.

I digress, and unlike some folks, I will continue to support our awesome President!
