Now that "American Idol" has cleaned house once again... the buzz is getting louder that Mariah Carey is currently in talks to be a judge on "American Idol".
Current "Idol" judge Randy Jackson and Mariah Carey are close friends, Randy is also if not already supposedly going to be her manager.
Now while Mariah would be a huge mega win for "American Idol", it will also cause and even bigger rivalry with Simon Cowell's show "The X-Factor".
During the first season of "X-Factor", Simon continued to say publicly that he had spoken with Mariah and she would be a part of the show in some way. After the show began, Mariah was scheduled to be a mentor with Simon Cowell at his home for his team of singers. Mariah was unable to make it, Simon stated that the NY storm that everyone was bracing for kept Mariah stuck.
Later in the season, it was reported that Mariah Carey would be performing "All I Want For Christmas" with Justin Bieber on the show. Well Justin appeared, no Mariah.
So this all makes sense now. Randy Jackson being Mariah's friend, perhaps he felt it would not be a good look for her to appear on a rival's show. Anywho, deets below. Via CBS8:

Simon Cowell reportedly pursued Carey for The X Factor judging panel for Season 1 and she was rumored to be in the mix for Season 2 after Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger were fired. Adam Lambert to become American Idol judge? Earlier this week, E! reported that Idol alum Adam Lambert was also in talks to join Idol as a judge.
